Great Smoky Mountains Illustrated Map

Client: Wall Street Journal

I was commissioned to design this Great Smoky Mountains National Park map by the Wall Street Journal to accompany one of their autumn travel posts. The map need to be modest in size but eye catching and show most of the places referenced in the accompanying text such as Pigeon Forge, Mount Le Conte, Grotto Falls, Cherokee and the infamous Tail of the Dragon Trail.

I used an autumnal palette to reflect the rich colours of the region at that time of year.
